To install Turbolinux 10 Server locally:

1.

Insert the boot floppy containing boot.img, as described in Section A.2.
2.

If you would like to install from CD-ROM, insert the Turbolinux 10 Server Install CD 1 in the CD-ROM drive.
3.

Power on your computer or press its restart button.
4.

You should see the following boot prompt; the installer will start momentarily.

To install from a local hard disk, you will need to input "ftp" as the install option at the boot prompt. To install from a local CD-ROM, you do not have to specify a setting; simply press the [Enter] key.
Caution

At the boot screen, you may change the default installer settings and boot options. If necessary, you may add appropriate boot options at the boot prompt near the bottom of this screen. This may be useful if you have problems with the normal installation procedures. For details, please refer to Appendix B.
5.

In a few moments, the screen will display "Please insert module disk 1; then press a key to continue." Insert the system install disk ("normal.img" or "pcmcia.img") which you created earlier then press the [Enter] key.
6.

Choose a Language

Using the arrow keys, select the language to be used during the Turbolinux 10 Server install process. Use the Tab key to highlight the OK button and press [ENTER].
7.

Select your keyboard's configuration.

Select your keyboard's language layout from the list shown in Figure A.9, Keyboard Configuration.

Keyboard keys are mapped to different characters in different languages and the mapping of keys to characters is a function of software (it is not necessarily related to the letters printed on the keys). For example, the first six letters on a US (United States) keyboard are QWERTY. The first six characters on a German keyboard are QWERTZ. Your selection here should reflect the language of the user normally using the machine.

Press [TAB] until the OK button is highlighted and then press [ENTER], or simply press [F12], to move to the next screen.
8.

Select either Local CD-ROM or Hard Drive as your installation method.

Press [TAB] until the OK button is highlighted and then press [ENTER], or simply press [F12], to move to the next screen.

Continuing with the CD-ROM

Once you have selected Local CD-ROM as your installation method, the installer will locate your CD-ROM and complete loading.
Continuing with Hard Drive

From the Select Partition screen, you may configure options to proceed with installation from a local hard disk partition.

9.

From the list box, select the hard disk drive device that contains the complete install image.
10.

Input the full directory path name containing the install image.
